We take a very one-eyed approach to what makes
great cider. Good apples hand picked from our Napoleone Orchard in the Yarra, then straight up,
cold-crushed. That’s about it.
No added sugar. No concentrate. No nonsense.

Way back in 1905, on the St Huberts orchard in Coldstream where our Napoleone orchard now sits, an unfortunate stick vs face incident caused worker Louis Cardinoux to lose his left eye. Our refreshing, hand-crafted cider is a tip of the hat to our friend in the field and a tasty reminder to always keep your eyes on the prize.
Crushed from a single pick of our 2020 harvest of Yarra Valley apples, steeped on skins for 24 hours, then plunged head-first to seasoned barrels to naturally ferment.
This brew is more savoury than its bottled stablemates, thanks to regular lees stirring, lending mouthfeel and complexity.
In a nutshell, the Louis Hard Cider delivers a thirst quenching, cool-climate fruit flavour, with the funk and texture that comes from 30 years of hard graft in the Yarra.
